Term
94. Density [image]
Definition

Density: a variety of factors affect water density, more dense water sinks, setting up convection currents

Density can be affected by the temperature of the water

cold

warm

Term

94. Surface Currents

Definition

Surface Currents- the water at the ocean surface

The Surface Current is effected by the way the wind blows.

Corolios Effect

Wind

Term

95. Upwelling

Definition

Upwelling- nutrient rich water comes to the surface

Upwelling is a replacement for warmer water.

nutrient rich

nutrient depleted

Term

97. Corolois Effect

Definition

Corolois Effect- the apparent deeflection of rotating motion

Surface Currents are directly affected by the Corolois Effect.

Term
98. Deep Ocean Current [image]
Definition

Deep Ocean Current- Currents that are directly effected by temperature and density

Deep ocean Currents are a type of current from density and temperature.

Term
99. Water Cycle [image]
Definition

Water Cycle- the process of how the Earth naturally replenishes water

The Water Cycle is a very important cycle that happens in your everyday life.

condensation

evaporation

Term
100. Ground Water [image]
Definition

Ground Water- water beneath the Earths surface

We get ground water through processes like precipitation.

precipitation

transpiration

Term
101. Surface Water [image]
Definition

Surface Water- water on the surface of the earth

Surface water can be seen everywhere.

rivers

lakes

Term
102. Groundwater Cross Section
Definition

water table- a saturated lauer of underground water

Peremeable- water can get through it

Impereable- water can not get through it

Confined Aquifer- an underground aquafer

Unconfined Aquifer- an aquifer near the ground surface

Pumped well- a structure used to obtain water from under the surface

Artisan well- an aquifer containing ground water is put infer positive pressure.

Zone of Saturation- an area underground where pore spaces can be filled witn water

zone of aeration- an area underground where the pore spaces can be filled with air

cone of depression- where the water is coming from when using a well

Term

103. Wells

Definition

well- a cylinder shaped construction used to obtain underground water

Wells are not really relevant today.
