Cards

Term
Function of reactor pressure relief
Definition
  • Provide primary system overpressure protection.
  • Provide automatic and manual RPV depressurization or pressure control.
  • Flow path for alternate shutdown cooling.
Term
SRV design characteristics
Definition
  • 1109 psig
  • 30 psid blowdown
  • Two sizes (750,000 lbm/hr and 887,000 lbm/hr)
Term
ADS design characteristics
Definition

Backup to HPCI.

Enables low pressure ECCS to inject should HPCI fail to operate.

Term
Lo Lo set design characteristics
Definition
Minimizes SRV re-opening with discharge piping gilled with water
Term
How does ADS/Lo-lo set actuate?
Definition
Pneumatic pressure
Term
Minimum steam pressure that an SRV will remain open
Definition
Below 50 psig, valves are not expected to remain open.
Term
Bellows alarm setpoint and purpose
Definition
5 psig; leak detection
Term
Valve leak detection alarm setpoint
Definition
150 degrees F
Term
Which of the reactor pressure relief systems are ECCS?
Definition
ADS
Term
Requirements for ADS initiation
Definition

107 sec Timer expiration

Timer starts when:

-47 inches reactor level AND AC interlock satisfied.

NOTE: if low low level clears before timer expiration, then ADS does not initiate. However, if ADS initiates, then the only two things that will interrupt the signal are:

  • Both ADS Inhibit switches OR
  • No AC interlock
Term
When does the ADS timer reset?
Definition
  • If water level goes above -47 inches (with AC interlock prior to timer timing out),
  • AC interlock not satisfied,
  • Both INHIBIT switches
Term
SRVs associated with ADS
Definition
A,C,D
Term
SRVs associated with Lo-Lo Set
Definition
H, G, E
Term
Requirements for Lo-Lo set
Definition
  • Full scram signal present
  • Hand-switch in auto
  • Reactor pressure below setpoint (1052, 1062, 1072 psig)
Term
Lo-Lo setpoints
Definition

H: 1052 psig

G: 1062 psig

E: 1072 psig

Blowdown is approximately 80 psi

Term
Time delay assoicated with Lo-Lo set
Definition

10 seconds after valve shuts

(Minimizes possibility of SRV re-opening with elevated water leg inside discharge piping.)

Term
Function/basis of ADS
Definition
To provide backup to HPCI for automatic depressurization of the reactor vessel in time to permit LPCI and/or core spray systems to operate TO PREVENT FUEL CLAD MELTING DURING A SMALL BREAK LOSS OF COOLANT ACCIDENT.
Term
How can ADS be interrupted?
Definition
  • Loss of AC Interlock (no low pressure ECCS pumps running)
  • Level restored above -47 inches prior to 107 second timer timing out
  • Both Inhibit switches.
Term
