When constructed, the foundation began to sink to produce the leaning appearance we see today.
Appears in Pisa's cathedral square as the third structure, behind the cathedral.
It's construction spanned over 177 years and is truly a work of art.

A very common symbol, appears on many tympanums in this time period.
Shows Christ seated in his throne in the heavens with a mandorla encircling him.
The mandorla is an ellipse that indicates glory or deity.

Could also be used as a chapel, can contain the bodies of the deceased or relics.
