The Rex is a Commercial type breed.

 

Commercial Type: medium length, with depth of

body equaling width of body throughout.

The high point of the top line should be over the hips.

The side profile will taper from hindquarters through to the shoulders. Fullness of body and the firmness of flesh are important qualities.

Animals are to be posed with front feet directly under

the eyes and the toes of the rear feet aligned with

the front of the hips. Posing in a tucked up or

stretched out position is inappropriate.

What is the distinctive charachteristic of rex rabbit?
Definition

The distinctive characteristic of a Rex rabbits is the fur structure. As compared with normal rabbit fur, Rex fur is short and plush like, stands straight upright, and has guard hairs almost as short as the undercoat.

rex rabbits are to be judged to the rex standard, not the standards for normal furred rabbits of similar colors.

The idea Rex is a well proportioned animal that will give the impressionof balance and uniformity. the animal should exemplify meat producing qualities, having medium

body lenght, well rounded hips, well filled loin, ribs,

and shoulders that balance with the rest of the body.

The body is to have enough depth to balance other portions. Top body line should rise in a gradual curve from the base

of the ears to the center of the hip and then fall in a

smooth curve downward to the base of the tail.

Legs must be short enough to dispel any appearance of raciness or of being rangy. Bone is to be medium.

General body type consists of body, head, ears, eyes,

feet and legs, and tail.

Side line should taper slightly from hindquarters

Fur is to be extremely dense with lenght no less than 1/2"

or more than 7/8".

Idea length is 5/8".

Fur is to be straight, upright, and as nearly as possible,

the same length and texture over entire body.

Fur is to have a lustrous apperance. Guard hairs are

to be very plentiful and evenly disrubuted, but not

too noticeably protruding. Fur is to be of good body

and plush like effect, offering a distinct springy resistance

to the touch. It should feel extremely smooth to the touch,

but not have a soft silky texture, which would

destroy the springiness.

Definition

Agouti patterns are defined as: a hair shaft that has 3 or

more bands of color, with definate break between

each color. It usually has dark slate at the base,

with 2 or more alternating light or dark bands of color,

which is further interspersed with contrasting guard hairs.

The head, feet, and ears usually have ticking.

Eye circles, belly, under jaws, underside of tail, and triangle are much lighter (may be white in some cases)

and do not carry ticking.

Shaded- Self patterns are defined as :

The shadded pattern is to show gradual and discernible transition of basic color, usually from dark to light.

Darker color most often appears on the back, head,

ears, tail, feet and leg areas, then shades to a lighter

color on the sides and belly.

 

Shaded - Self Pattern:

Seal, Sable, Californian, & White

 

The Californian and White are included in the breeding

group because they are needed to develop the

correct Sable pattern.

Pattern is to have both ears colored, nose markings (no prefrence is given to butterfly over evenly balanced nose spots). color around both eyes, and back pattern. the back pattern may be in the form of a blanket (color starting at the nape of the neck, continuing over the back, sides, and hips) or spotted (individual colored spots evenly distributed over the back, sides, and hips), with preference given to balance of pattern. Color on a Broken patterned animal is to be at least 10%, but not more than 50% of the entire animal.

Chinchilla

 

Color is to resemble real Chinchilla. The undercolor is

to be dark slate at the base. Intermediate portion of pearl

is to be as light as possible (base to be definitely wider

than intermediate portion), with top edge being a very

narrow black band, above this is a very light band brightly ticked with black hairs. Either wavy or even ticking permissible to make the beautiful Chinchilla surface color. Neck fur is lighter in color than the body, but strictly

confined to the nape. The chest is to be lightly ticked

with a uniform shade of pearl, slightly lighter than the body. The body color is to be white or blue next to the skin.

The belly surface color is to be white. Eye circles are to be well defined, narrow, and light pearl in color.
