Schizophrenia A
Definition
Two or more of the following, each present for a significant portion of the time during a 1 month period (or less if successfully treated):
1) Delusions
2) Hallucinations
3) Disorganized speech
4) Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior
5) Negative symptoms, i.e. affective flattening, alogia, or avolition.

Note: Only one Criterion A symptom is required if delusions are bizarre or hallucinations consist of a voice keeping up a running commentary on the person's behavior or thoughts, or two or more voices conversing with each other.

Definition
For a significant portion of the time since the onset of the disturbance, one or more major areas of functioning such as work, interpersonal relations or self-care are markedly below the level achieved prior to the onset (or when the onset is in childhood or adolescence, failure to achieve expected level of interpersonal, academic or occupational achievement).

Definition
Continuous signs of the disturbance persist for at least 6 months. Must include at least 1 month of symptoms (or less if successfully treated that meet criterion A. and may include periods of prodromal or residual symptoms. During residual periods signs of disturbance many be only negative, or two or more symptoms in criterion A present in attenuated form.

Definition
Schizoaffective Disorder/Mood Disorder with psychotic features have been ruled out because either (1) No MD, Manic, Mixed Episodes have occured concurrently with active phase symptoms or (2) if mood episodes have occured during active-phase symptoms their total duration has been brief relative to the duration of active and residual periods.

F) If history of autism/PDD additional dx of schizophrenia is made only if prominent delusions or hallucinations are also present for at leas a month (or less if successfully treated)

A) Criteria A, D, and E of Schizophrenia are met.

B) An episode of the disorder (including prodromal),active and residual phases) lasts at least 1 month but less than 6 months. (When the Dx must be made without waiting for recovery, it should be qualified as provisional)

Definition
A) An uninterrupted period of illness during which at some time there is either a major depressive episode, manic episode, or mixed concurrent with symptoms that meet criterion A for schizophrenia. MDE must include Depressed mood.

B) During the same period of illness there have been delusions or hallucinations for at least 2 weeks in the absence of prominent mood symptoms.

C) Symptoms that meet criteria for a mood episode are present for a substantial portion of the total duration of the active and residual periods

D) Disturbance not due to substance or GMC.

Definition
A) non bizarre delusions of at least 1 month's duration

B) Criterion A for schizophrenia has never been met. Note: Tactile and olfactory hallucinations may be present in DD if they are related to the delusional theme.

Definition
C) Apart from the impact of delusions or its ramifications, functioning is not markedly impaired and behavior is not obviously odd or bizarre.

D) If mood episodes have occurred concurrently, their total duration has been brief relative to the duration of delusional periods.

E) Disturbance is not due to a substance/GMC.

Brief Psychotic Disorder A-C
Definition
A) Presence of 1 or more:

1) Delusions
2) Hallucinations
3) Disorganized speech
4) Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior

B) Duration of an episode of the disturbance is at least one day but less than 1 month with eventual full return to premorbid level of functioning

C) Disturbance not better accounted for by mood disorder with psychotic features and is not due to a substance or GMC.

Shared Psychotic Disorder
Definition
A) A Delusion develops in an individual in the context or a close relationship with another person(s) who has an already-established delusion.

B) Delusion is similar in content to that of the person who already has the established delusion.

C) The disturbance is not better accounted for by another psychotic disorder or a mood disorder w/psychotic features or a substance or GMC.
