What is Certification?

Confirmation of certain characteristics of a person.  Some certifications are valid for a lifetime however others must be renewed.  Being certified does NOT mean you can legally do something.

 What is Licensure?

Licensure is a legal requirement for practicing a profession; many professions & privileges require a license.

 How do you get a license?

In order to get a license one must complete certain steps such as training, practice, or pass an exam.  This can be perpetual or require periodic renewal.

 What is registration?

The act of enrolling one's name

The largest credentialing organization in the world of radiologic technology

 For radiographers, first comes initial certification with the ARRT.  What does that mean?

A radiographer is certified by the ARRT after they graduate from an approved educational program, comply with the ethical and character standards, and pass a certification exam.

For radiographers, second comes registration with the ARRT. What does that mean?

This is the annual procedure required to maintain registration of the certification.  There are 3 criterias to meet:
