May 14, 1836  Public Treaty- end War, never to attack Texas, Mexican Army to withdrawal south of the Rio Grande, each side released prisoners,    Secret Treaty- Burnett agreed to release Santa Anna upon the signing of the treaty. Never invade Texas, and to recognize Texas as a free nation, set the border at the Rio Grande between Texas and Mexico.  Burnett had to renege on his part of the treaty because he could not ensure Santa Anna’s safe return to Mexico.  Mexico would not recognize the terms under the Treaty of Velasco.
