A line runs between 2 points. It can be thick or thin, curved or straight, solid or implied (with dots or dashes).

A closed line creates a shape. A shape is always 2 dimensional, flat. It can be geometric, with angles and straight lines, or biomorphic, with curves.

Visual balance is the way shapes and forms relate to each other so that one area does not overpower any other area. Balance is symmetric when each side is the same. It is asymmetric when the two sides are different in such a way that the object appears to be balanced.
