Definition
Contraindications: hypersensitivity to adrenergenic amines
adverse reactions: nervousness, restlessness, tremor, headache, insomnia, pulmonary edema, angina, nausea, vommiting, hypergycemia
Nursing Considerations: monitor maternal pulse and BP, frequency and duration of contractions, and fetal heart rate.

Contraindications: hypersensitivity to lidocaine
Adverse reactions: blanching, redness, alteration in temperature sensation, edema, itching, rash, hyperpigmentation
Nursing considerations: assess application site for open wounds. Apply only on intact skin, assess application site for anesthesia following removal of system and prior to procedure

Indications: Treatment of mild to sever pain, fever
Definition
Contraindications: previous hypersensitivity, products containing alcohol, aspartame, saccharin, sugar, tartrazine should be avoided in those who have hypersensitivity or intolerance to these compounds, severe hepatic, impairments/active liver disease
Nursing Considerations: asses overall health status and alcohal usage before administering. Assess amount, frequency, and type of drugs taken in self-medicating. Risk of hepatoxicity, and renal effects.

Indications: treatment of constipation
Definition
Contraindications: hypersensitivity, abdominal pain, obstruction, nausea or vomiting, fever
Adverse reactions: abdominal cramps, nausea, diarrhea, rectal burning, muscle weakness
Nursing considerations: assess patient for abdominal distention, presence of bowel sounds, and usual pattern of bowel function, assess color, consistency, and amount of stool produced

Contraindications: hypersensitivity, acute attacks of asthma, lactation, known alcohol intolerance
Adverse reactions: drowsiness, dizziness, headaches, paradoxical excitation, blurred vision, tinnitus, hypotension, palpitations, anorexia, dry mouth, constipation, nausea, urinary retention,photosensitivity, pain at IM site
Nursing considerations: Determine why it is being used and assess symptoms, appears on the BEERS list, assess for confusion, delirium, fall risk, prevention and tx of anaphylaxis, allergic rhinitis, parkinsonism and extrapyramida reactions, cough suppressant, motion sickness, insomnia
