Term
¿De dónde vienes?
Definition

~Where (do) you come from?

("From where you come?")

OJO: Notice "de" goes first.

OJO: Notice accent on "dónde" because it's a question word.

OJO: "Vienes" is an e>ie stem changer from venir, to come (like "¡Ven aquí!)

Term
Te doy lecciones.
Definition

I (will) give you lessons.

OJO: "Te" means "to you." "Doy" is "yo" for "dar," to give.

OJO: Notice "te" goes before "doy."

SPELLING: Notice lecciones has two c's. Double letters only exist in Spanish to change their pronunciation. The first "c" is pronounced /k/ and the second is pronounced /s/.

OJO: FYI "Lecciones" is feminine because it has "-ción."

Term
Yo soy el más grande.
Definition

I am the biggest (oldest).

OJO: Use "soy" instead of "estoy" because it's a description.

OJO: Notice "más" has an accent.

OJO: Compare "el más grande" and "el más viejo." You wouldn't say the second because "viejo" sounds like "old" in a negative way here.

OJO: If a girl were talking, she would say "Yo soy la más grande."

Term
cuando no lo hago todo perfectamente
Definition

when I don't do it all perfectly

OJO: "No" goes before the verb phrase.

OJO: "Hago" is the "yo" form of "hacer."

OJO: Notice the "lo."

OJO: Notice "-mente" is "-ly."

Term
Yo les acompaño.
Definition

I (will) accompany you all.

OJO: "Les" means "to them/to you all." "Acompaño" means "I accompany.

OJO: Notice the "will" is assumed and we can just use present tense. It's like how we say "I (will) have dance class tomorrow."

Term
una o dos veces a la semana
Definition
one or two times a week
OJO: Notice "a la semana" means "per week."
OJO: "Veces" is plural for "vez," as in "otra vez," another time/turn.
OJO: We know that "vez" is feminine because it says "una" instead of "un."
