Term
Light Blue Tube Laboratory Use
Definition
For Coagulation Determinations
(Some tests might require chilled specimens)
Special Note about Light Blue: When collecting on a butterfly set use a discard tube before drawing Light Blue tube.
Term
Red/Black Tube Laboratory Use
Definition
For Serum determinations in chemistry and serology. Should not be used for toxicology or drug testing. Blood clotting time of 30 minutes.
Term
Red Tube Laboratory Use
Definition
For serum determinations in chemistry and serology, as well as for toxicology and drug testing. Bot recommended for blood banking. Clotting with 60 minutes.
Term
Green Tube Laboratory Use
Definition
For plasma determinations in chemistry
Term
Tan Tube Laboratory Use
Definition
For lead determinations. Inversions prevent clotting.
Term
