Definition
Purpura caused by vasculitis tends to be accompanied by palpable infiltration (Palpable Purpura) whereas purpura caused by other factors does not have infiltration and is therefore Nonpalpable Purpura.
Note: Purpura caused by mild vasculitis may not be palpable |

Definition
- Specific type of cutaneous small-vessel vasculitis
- Caused by IgA immune complex deposition on the vascular walls
- A Type III allergy
- It is a leukoclastic vasculitis with scattered nuclear fragments
- S/Sx include Palpable Purpura in dependent areas (Legs/Buttocks), Arthritis, Abdominal pain, Renal symptoms, Digestive symptoms
- Tx: Bed rest and Systemic steroids
- Prognosis:Resolves in several weeks; May recur
