Suspected AMI or myocardial ischaemia

Administered straight after GTN

Contraindications

• KSAR to aspirin or NSAIDs
• Chest pain associated with psychostimulant overdose
• Bleeding disorders
• Current GI bleeding or peptic ulcers
• Patients <18

• Possible aortic aneurysm or other condition that may require surgery
• pregnancy
• History of GI bleeding or peptic ulcers
• Concomitant anticoagulant therapy (excluding clopidogrel)

• Epigastric pain/discomfort
• Nausea and/or vomiting
• Gastritis
• GI bleeding
• NSAID induced bronchospasm

• Malignant Hyperthermia

• Intoxicated patients or drug affected patients

• Cough
• Renal/hepatic failure following repeated high dose exposure to methoxyflurane

Methoxyflurane

(Dosage)

• >= 1yo - 3ml repeated once after 20mins (MAX DOSE 6ml)

• <1yo - 3ml (SINGLE DOSE ONLY)

Glyceryl Trinitrate (GTN)

(Indications)

• Vasodilator
• Pain syndromes associated with suspected AMI or Myocardial ischaemia
• Cardiogenic pulmonary oedema
• Cardiac chest pain unresponsive to sublingual nitrates, narcotocs and/or B blockers
• Autonomic dysreflexia with a systolic BP >= 160mmHg

Glyceryl Trinitrate GTN

(Contraindications)

• KSAR
• Heart rate <50 OR >150bpm
• Systolic BP <100mmHg
• Acute CVA
• Head Trauma
• Erectile Dysfunction medications in previous 24hrs

Glyceryl Trinitrate GTN

(Precautions)

• Suspected inferior AMI
• Cerebral vascular disease
• Risk of hypotension and/or syncope
• Intoxication (drug effects enhanced)
• Erectile dysfunction meds in previous 4 days

Glyceryl Trinitrate GTN

(Side effects)

• Dizziness
• Hypotension
• Syncope
• Reflex tachycardia
• Vascular headaches

Glyceryl Trinitrate GTN

(Adult dose)

• Sublingual dose 400mcg
• Repeated at 5mins intervals whilst symptoms continue
• Systolic BP must remain >100mHg
• NO MAX DOSE
