Definition

The right of a sovereign to rule as set forth by the theory of government that holds that a monarch receives the right to rule directly from God and not the people.

 

Charles II of England, and many others believed in it.

Definition

This was issued by the king to resolve religious problems. It recognized Catholicism as France's Official religion while still giving the Huguenots the right to worship and have political privileges.

 

It was created to end the conflict between Catholics and Huguenots which had turned into a series of battles.

This war was fought in Germany from 1618 to 1648 between the Catholics and Protestants.

 

This war shows how big religion was back in the 17th century.

Was a series of peace treaties signed between MAy and October of 1648 in Osnabruck and Munster.

 

This ended the Thirty Year's War in the Holy Roman Empire.

Also known as "limited monarchy" 

 

A monarchy governed according to a constitution that limits and defines the powers of the sovereign.

Definition

An act of the Parliament of England: it set the rules/laws and limits on the power of the sovereign (ruler, highest in control) and the ideas of John Locke, a political thinker who believed humans had natural, born rights.

 

It gave Parliament the right to make laws and levy taxes, created a limited or constitutional monarchy.
