Dictatorship

• Ruled by 1 person or group who is solely responsible to keep order.
• No guarantees of individual rights (No freedom of speech, No trial, etc)
• Dictators power is absolute.
• Usually high ranking military official who takes power by force

Monarchy

• King/Queen
• Hereditay: power is passed through the family
• Absolute: no one can question the power of the King/Queen
• God gave them the power to rule
• People have no guarantees of individual rights

• Popular Sovereignty: the people are the supreme authority
• Limited Government: no one is above the law
• Government has to guarantee its citizens rights
