• Treaty of Treason, which guaranteed peace and the Hunger Games

• Effie Trinket draws the names
• Primrose Everdeen, Katniss's little sister is drawn for female tribute
• Katniss volunteers as tribute
• Peeta Mallark is drawn as male tribute
• this is when Katniss remembers she has somewhat of a past with him

Collins    86-102      Training Center

• for 3 days, all 24 tributes train together
• overall, Peeta, who is an excellent wrestler and Katniss, who is good with a bow, train together
• training area has different stations with instructors 
• on the last day of training Katniss got the gamemakers attention by shooting her bow into the roasted pig's mouth on the table to get their attention

Collins    115-137    The Interview Before the Games

• Cinna tells Katniss to be herself because everyone is going to love her
• each tribute gets 3 minutes
• host is Caesar Flickerman
• Katniss does very well 
• Peeta's interview is right after her and he tells everyone that he has had a crush on Katniss for as long as he can remember
• this definitely gets the crowd interested in the two tributes from district 12

Collins  148-160   Beginning of the 74th Hunger Games

• must wait 60 seconds before they are released into the field
• even though Haymitch told Katniss to go find water first, she does not listen and goes straight for the cornucopia, which holds a couple things she needs
• several tributes are killed immediately
• Katniss is scared that Peeta is dead
• she later discovers that Peeta has joined the Careers, who are all after her 

Collins   161-345    Katniss's Journey  

• the gamemakers are good at torturing Katniss with the fire hence "the girl on fire" from her dress at the beginning
• faces many challenges along the way that test her patience with herself and Peeta
• they are told there can be two victors as long as they are a male and female from the same district
• this new rule was revoked so Katniss and Peeta decide to eat poisonous berries so there will be no victor, however they are stopped and announced the two victors of the Hunger Games

Collins     346-359      Two Victors

• hovercraft comes and gets the two victors from the arena after the spit out the berries
• taken back to the training center to get cleaned up and fed
• goes in for another interview and reunion with Peeta

Collins     360-374    The End

• Katniss is very pleased to be reunited with Peeta on stage
• President Snow crowns them both
• after this event, they go to the president's mansion for the Victory Banquet
• the Capitol is not happy with the stunt of the berries
• Katniss gets confused whether she really loves Peeta or not
