Prominence

How well known are the ppl in ur story?? If the ppl r well known to local readers, or a national level they will want to buy and read more newspapers. Think if someone famous did something, then a neighbor did the same thing...who would get the most publicity??

Location, location, location!!! If the event is happening close by it will interest local readers more then if it happen miles away. 

If something is happening right NOW! it has more impact then if it happenned years ago.  no one wants to read old news. 

think weekly world news, and Ripley's beleive it or not, if something is unusual the oddity alone can make it good news. 

An event or descion with consequences is one that will effect readers lives in some way or another. the bigger the impact, the more ppl will want to read it. 

 Appeal to reades emotions.  They make readers happy, nostalgic, sad, angry, or sympathetic
