  • Anterior and posterior fontanel (not bulgy or sunken, should be soft).
    • Anterior: diamond shape, less than 6 cm, closes 18-24 months
    • Posterior fontanel: smaller triangle, closes by 6-12 weeks, lesss than 1 cm
  • check for Molding
  • Caput succedaneum: serous fluid crosses suture line
  • Cephalohematoma: blood, does not cross suture line.
  • sutures (overlapping or gaped)
  • nose ears eyes (subconjunctival hemorrhages)
