-Noxious stimuli causes an exaggerated response of the ANS
-Sympathetic nervous system is stimulated but response is altered due to spinal cord injury.

(bowel/bladder distention is #1 cause)

Definition
-Raise HOB 45' to get pressure off brain
-Administer antihypertensive meds, IVP or SL
-Assess cause and monitor VS
-Eleviate problem
