Definition
Another name for your online persona.  It refers to ALL of the online places where you post personal or professional information, so it may include a personal websites, webcast, Facebook, Twitter page, etc.

Definition

 

A mashup is a Web page or application that integrates complementary elements from two or more sources. Mashups are often created by using a development approach called Ajax. Here's an example of a few mashup sites:

  • Diggdot: a mashup of Digg, Slashdot and Del.icio.us that integrates and filters content
  • Flash Earth: a zoomable mash-up of Google Maps and Microsoft's Virtual Earth
  • Hiking Outpost: a mashup of Amazon and online hiking information resources

Like blogs, vlogs and tagging, mashups are part of an ongoing shift towards more a more interactive and participatory Web 2.0 with more user-generated content and services.

It's the tale of Josh Santangelo's bad drug trip. In a blog years ago, he "dumped his drug story" on the Internet in response to a posting on a blog. Another blog linked to it and viral marketing took over. The rest became history as Santangelo's "drug dump" was "out there" for the world to read. Lesson:  Employeers are now checking online information about employees.

"Post-PC" refers to the era after it was considered good etiquette to be politically correct. The abbreviation "PC" means "politically correct" and it refers to language that tries minimize offensive remarks about someone's gender, race, disability, or other form of identity. This spawned the term "politically incorrect" (unPC) which refers to language or ideas that cause offense to someone.
