Definition

 

1924-Protect forest lands, reforest areas that had been cleared, and to extend National Forests. Once these lands are acquired by the Federal Government they then worked to restore the natural habitat of the previously cleared woods and grew back the national parks that we have today.

Fisheries Conservation and Management Act

Definition

 

1976- also known as Magnuson Fishery and Conservation and Management act or Magnuson Stevens Act. It provides management of fish and other species under Regional Councils and approved by secretary of commerce.This Act helps to ensure U.S. Marine Fish populations, and to maintain and restore healthy levels of fish stock and prevent overharvesting.

National Forest Management Act

Definition

 

1976-To protect our national forests from timber harvesting, manages renewable resources and states what chemicals may or may not be used on plants.If a road be built on land with connection to a timber harvest, a permit or lease must be made with attempts to have the vegetation regrow and should be reestablished after 10 years of the contract.

Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act

Definition

 

1977-Requires that the operator of the mine to restore the land enough to be able to support what the land had supported in the past.They do that by restoring the original contour of the land, also by avoiding acid mining drainage, reclaim land in a timely manner, and reintroduce the type of vegetation that was there before to cover the damaged area.

Definition
1978- help provide the State Foresters, or equivalent State Officials, financial, technical and other assistance by the Secretary of Agriculture. The act focuses primarily on providing funds, technical and other assistance for fire prevention and control in rural communities and non-Federal forests and rural lands, implementing forestry incentive programs, the development and management of nonindustrial private forest lands, plus insect and disease control in these areas.

1989-The maintenance of healthy populations of migratory birds in North Amierca is dependet on the protection, restoration and management of ethland ecosystems and associated habitats in Canda as well in the US and Mexicao.  Wtland provides essential and significant habitat for fish, shellfish or any other wildlife of commerical value.

Wild Bird Conservation Act

Definition
1992-To protect exotic bird species from international trade. The only legal way to obtain any of the numerous exotic species covered by this law is to first acquire a permit from the U.S Fish & Wildlife Service with the intent of using the specimen for scientific research, zoological breeding, display, or pets in some circumstances.
