What are the five modes of montage?

R.I.T.M.O:

Rhythmic- Graphic matches. Shapes, size, color, and action is repeated from shot to shot.

 

intellectual- Create a meaning. Kuleshov effect.

 

tonal- an attempt to create emotion. Continuity doesn't matter. We're looking at emotion, not any realistic view of the world.

 

metric-meters in time. Shots get shorter over the course of a sequence. As shots get faster at the end of a sequence, more concern is made in the audience.

 

overtonal- a combination of any of the other forms.
