  • Name: Generic-Cefdinir Trade-Omnicef
  • Indications: Antibiotic to treat bacterial infections
  • Dose Range and Routes: by mouth with or without food, one or twice a day.
  • Side Effects: diarrhea, headache, nausea may occur
  • Special Considerations: take 2 hours before or after taking antiacid containing  magnesium or aluminum, iron supplements, or vitamin/mineral supplements

  • Name: generic- Levofloxacin  trade- Levoquin
  • Indications: used to treat a variety of bacterial infections including several types of sinus infections and pneumonia. Also for flare ups of chronic bronchitis, acute kidney infections, certain urinary or chronic prostate infections and skin infections.
  • Dose Range and Routes: by mouth, dosage depends of what is being treated and patient symptoms. 
  • Side Effects: most frequent are diarrhea, insomnia and dizziness. rare are agitation, confusion and fever.

  • Indications: used to treat or prevent UTIs
  • Dose Range and Routes: orally, as perscribed by doctor. take with food
  • Side Effects: headache, stomach pain or diarrhea and vomiting. brown discoloration of urine may occur.

  • Indications: used to treat infections caused by bacteria

Noroxin
Definition
  • Name: generic- Norfloxacin  trade- Noroxin
  • Indications: used to treat certain bacertial infections in many parts of the body. Will not work on colds, flu or other virus infections.
  • Dose Range and Routes: by mouth. drink plenty of water while taking this medication. should be taken 1 or 2 hours after a meal, milk or other dairy products. For infections dosage is typically 400mg every 12 hours for a duration of 3-21 days depending on diagnosis. 
  • Side Effects: may cause dizziness, lightheaded, drowsiness.
  • Special Considerations: Avoid caffeine. Antacids, iron, zinc, multi vitamins need to be taken 2 hours before or after noroxin.

  • Name: generic- Baclofen trade- Lioresal, Lioresal intrathecal, Gablofen, Ozobax, Lyvispan
  • Indications: used in adults and children 12y/o+ to treat types of spasticity (muscle stiffness and tightness), muscle pain with multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury or spinal cord diseases.
  • Dose Range and Routes: oral granule ( 10mg, 20mg, 5mg) ; oral liquid (5mg/ 5mL) ; oral suspension (1mg/mL, 5mg/mL) ; oral tablet (10mg, 20mg, 5mg)
  • Side Effects: common- dizziness, drowsiness, weakness. serious effects- severe drowsiness, breathing problems, fever, confusion/hallucinations
  • Special Considerations: Avoid alcohol

  • Name: generic- Lamotrigine  trade- LaMICtal ODT, LaMICtal XR, LaMICtal CD, Subvenite
  • Indications: anti-epileptic medication used with other medications or alone to treat epileptic seizures. Also used to delay mood episodes with bipolar disorder (manic depression).
  • Dose Range and Routes: oral tablet with different dose ranges depending on variation of medication prescribed
  • Side Effects: common are headache, burred or double vision, tremors, loss of cordination, dry mouth, nausea, back pain.

  • Name: generic- Azithromycin trade- Zithromax, Zithromax Z-pak, Z-max
  • Indications: used to treat various types of infections, including pink eye (bacterial conjunctivitis). 
  • Dose Range and Routes: by mouth as directed, usually once daily with or without food
  • Side Effects: common are stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain. tell doctor if lasting or worsening occurs. 
  • Special Considerations: take 2 hours before or after antiacids containing magnesium or aluminum.

  • Indications: used to treat UTIs caused by bacteria.
  • Dose Range and Routes: by mouth with food. oral suspension route should be shaken before measuring dose. 
  • Side Effects: common is diarrhea, tell doctor is it is bloody or watery.

  • Indications: used to treat anxiety disorders, alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Can be used with other medications to treat muscle spasms and stiffness, seizures.
  • Dose Range and Routes: by mouth. do not take for extended periods of time without doctor advice, as can be addictive.
  • Side Effects: common are shakiness, unsteady walking, trembling
  • Special Considerations: do not stop taking without doctors advice

  • Name: generic- Naltrexone, Naltrexone chloride trade- Vivitrol
  • Indications: used to treat alcohol use or opioid use disorder.
  • Dose Range and Routes: oral tablets for alcoholism typically recommended 1 tablet (50mg)/day. Opioid dependence start with half a tablet (25mg)/day then increase to full tablet (50mg)/day if not signs of withdrawal.
  • Side Effects: common-increased thirst, chest pain, restlessness. serious- increased depression, pneumonia.

  • Name: generic- Promethazine trade- Phenergan, Phenadoz, Promethegan
  • Indications: used to treat allergy symptoms such as itching, runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, hives and itchy skin rashes. May be used as a sedative or sleep aid.
  • Dose Range and Routes: orally, often at bedtime or before meals
  • Side Effects: common are drowsiness, ringing in ears, double vision, dry mouth, nervous feeling, tired feeling.

  • Indications: used as oxygen therapy if patient is unable to maintain healthy oxygen levels without it. 
  • Dose Range and Routes: nasal cannula/ face mask, through nose or mouth
  • Side Effects: if take in too much oxygen it can result in oxygen toxicity or poisoning and can result in slowing breathing and heart rate down to dangerous levels

  • Indications: anti-epileptic medication used to treat neuropathic pain caused by herpes virus or shingles and to treat seizures
  • Dose Range and Routes: usually for adults dosage is orally 300mg on day one, 300mg twice on day two, 300mg three times on day three, not exceeding 3600mg in three separate administrations in a day
  • Side Effects: common are fever, chills, jerky movements, swelling in legs or feet, tremors, double vision
