Term
What are the three different service types?
Definition

IaaS, Infrastructure as a Service

PaaS, Platform as a Service

SaaS, Software as a Service

Term
What is IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)? What are some examples of it?
Definition
IaaS is when the provider provides physical infrastructure, but the user provides everything else, from operating system and applications to data and configurations.

IaaS examples include Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Virtual Networks, and Azure Storage.

Good for Lift-and-shift migrations, development and testing, and custom applications.
Term
What is PaaS (Platform as a Service)? What are some examples of this?
Definition
Paas provides a complete development and deployment environment in the cloud. The provider manages infrastructure as well as operating systems, middleware, and runtime environment. You focus on developing and managing your applications.

This is ideal for web applications, APIs, and mobile backends. Perfect for developers who want to focus on coding rather than managing servers.
Term
What is SaaS (Software as a Service)? What are some examples of it?
Definition

SaaS is just fully complete applications. Users just open and use them without any programming or management.

Examples include but are not limited to email services like gmail, collaboration tools like slack, and document management tools like dropbox

Term
What are the three cloud deployment models?
Definition
Public, Private, and Hybrid Clouds
Term
What are the main features, benefits, and drawbacks of the Public Cloud?
Definition

In a public cloud, all resources are owned and operated by a third-party cloud service provider and delivered over the internet. Multiple organizations share the same physical infrastructure, though their data and applications remain isolated and secure.

Offers the greatest scalability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of management. Only pay for what you use. Default option, move to other options if there are security or legacy concerns.

Term
What are the main features, benefits, and drawbacks of a private cloud?
Definition

A private cloud consists of computing resources used exclusively by one organization. Maintained on a private network.

More expensive, less flexible. Use if there are strict compliance requirements (healthcare, finance), enhanced security needs (sensitive data), or legacy system integration requirements.

Term
What are the main features, benefits, and drawbacks of a hybrid cloud system.
Definition

A hybrid cloud combines private and public clouds, allowing data and applications to be shared between them. This approach gives businesses greater flexibility and more deployment options.

Common hybrid cloud options include Cloud Bursting (using public cloud resources when traffic spikes), Disaster Recovery(keep backups offsite in case of emergencies), and Gradual Migration(moving to the cloud gradually rather than all at once).

Term
What is scalability?
Definition
Scalability is the ability to increase or decrease resources to meet changing demand. You can scale in two ways: vertical scaling (making individual resources more powerful, like upgrading a server to have more memory) and horizontal scaling (adding more instances of resources, like adding more servers for increased traffic)
Term
What is vertical scaling vs horizontal scaling?
Definition
Vertical scaling is making individual resource more powerful, like upgrading a server)

Horizontal scaling is adding more instances of resources, like adding more servers)
Term
What are the two types of scaling?
Definition
Vertical scaling and horizontal scaling
Term
What is elasticity?
Definition
Elasticity takes scalability a step further - it's the ability to automatically scale resources up or down based on current demand. Like adding servers automatically when traffic increases, and removing them when it decreases.
Term
What is pay-as-you-go pricing?
Definition
You are charged based on your ac
