The subject performs the action expressed by an active-voice verb.

Definition

 

 

A clause that can't stand alone without a main or independent clause. A subordinate clause is led by a subordinator.

 

A subordinate clause is also known as a DEPENDENT CLAUSE.

A word that indicates a relationship between the object (usually a noun) and something else in the sentence.

 

In some cases, prepositions can consist of more than one word.

How do you find the subject of a sentence if it is hidden?

Definition

  

1/ Ignore all the words that are NOT the subject.

2/ Eliminate middlemen (words between the subject and the vebr) & Skip the warmup (words put in front of the subject).

3/ If you can remove a phrase from the sentence and it still makes sense, the phrase is likely to be a middleman or warmup.
