A text in which the opening letters of successive lines form a word, phrase, or pattern.  The acrostics in the Bible are poems in which the first letters of successive lines or stanzas are the letters of the Hebrew alpabet in order.

Found in Psalms, Proverbs, and Lamentations. Most elaborate is psalm 119.

Jerusalem is considered the city of David because it did not come under Israelite control untill after its capture by David. David made it the capital of his kingdom and now holds the ark of the covenant. Also known as the "City of God".
