Definition
• Rossborough Inn is the oldest building on the campus of the University of Maryland
• It is the home of Maryland Images and a launch point for tours

• He was a mechanical engineer

• He is seen often around campus eating in the dining halls and sometimes even stops our tours to say hi

McKeldin Mall
Definition
• Hub of campus
• Campus is set up in three concentric horseshoes: The inner-most horseshoe is classroom buildings, the middle horseshoe is residence halls and dining halls, and the outer-most horseshoe is parking
• When the University first built the Mall, the president at the time didn’t want to pave sidewalks just to have students trample on the grass. So, he decided to wait a semester. At the end of the semester there were beaten down paths where the students walked most frequently. He had those paths paved. So, the paths on the Mall are all shortcuts from one side to the other.

• From the Metro you can get to Union Station to take Amtrak, to BWI airport from the MARC train, and to National Airport from the Metro

• Greek Life: 12%-15% of the undergraduate population is Social Greek

Blue Light Phone (Safety and Security)
Definition
• There are over 100 PERT or blue light phones on campus and 350 emergency phones in all
• All have video cameras and when you press the emergency button a siren will sound and a uniformed police officer will be dispatched immediately.
• Blue light phones are not the only means of security on campus, just the most visible

- Shuttle-UM
- Call-a-Ride - call anywhere within a ten mile radius of campus and get a ride back
- Walking Escort Service - You can call the auxiliary police office or stop a member of the police auxiliary on patrol, and they will walk you wherever you need to go on campus.
