collins     21-47    Reaping

• Prim gets called for tribute
• A volunteer is allowed to go in place for tribute
• katniss fights crying because she thinks it will look weak
• Katniss volunteers as tribute
• haymitch falls off stage while offering his congratulations
• male tribute name is peeta
• she had knew peeta once before
• the family has their last get together
• madge gives katniss a gold pin and ask her to wear it in the arena
• The Capitol stopped breeding the birds, but they survived.
• The pin is a small sign of rebellion. Katniss and Peeta have dinner with Effie Trinket on the train and they watch recaps of the reapings from the various districts.

Collins   45-85  Going away

• when she sees the dandelions she remembers prim
• they all get in a big tussel
• haymitch first advice is  that whatever the stylists do to them, they shouldn’t resist
• The people all have bizarre hair and painted faces. Peeta waves to the people gathered to see the tributes coming in.
• In the Capitol, a team of people wax Katniss’s body hair to prepare her for her stylist, Cinna.
• Cinna is quiet and modest
• what they wear reflects their city

• tributes will practive together for 3 days
• perform in front of gamemakers
• katniss is good with the bow peeta is a good wrestler
•  Haymitch tells them not to reveal their strengths until the private session with the Gamemakers and to be sure they’re always seen together.
• tributes from wealthier districts are healthy
• get a score from 1-12
• they were not paying attention so she shoots a arrow in a apple in the pigs mouth upstairs
• Katniss feels betrayed by Peeta but also relieved they don’t have to keep up the appearance of being good friends
• peeta tells everyone about a girl that he has loved

Collins  133-171  the games

• The crowd is into the fact that peeta is in love with katniss
• katniss gets mad at peeta for telling everyone that he loves her
• katniss wants to get the bow but peeta reminds her not to
• when the cannon sounds that means that someone is dead
• she caught a rabbit in a trasp she had set
• the backpack contains contains a sleeping bag, a little food, a bottle of iodine for purifying water, an empty bottle, and some other items.
•  Katniss was hoping for water, and she knows she won’t last long without it.
• she sleeps in a tree where a branch holds her up

Collins   151-207  in the arena

• fireballs out of nowhere come shooting out at katniss
• she got burned on her calf
• katniss sleeps in a tree and tries to wait out the pack
• katniss makes a nest of trackerjackers fall on the other tributes
• haymitch sends her some burn ointment
• Rue removes the venom from Katniss’s stings

Collins  208-244  the arena (cont.)

• While Katniss and Rue hunt, Katniss gets all the information she can out of Rue about the Careers’ camp
• Rue teaches Katniss her song for the mockingjays
• There are mockingjays all over the arena, and she says if Katniss hears the song she’ll know Rue is okay.
• there is a pyramid of supplies in the middle of the arena
• it has land mines around it
• she realizes that rue is missing
• and she is trapped in a net

Collins  247-289 The Victor

• peeta is laying on the ground camouflaged in the mud
• his legs are badly cut and he can barely move
• katniss tells peeta how much she loves him

Collins  291-330 ending the games

• Katniss finds out that Peeta’s feelings for her date all
• the way back to their first day of school together
• Peeta’s lack of experience foraging for his own food ironically benefits him and Katniss when he indirectly causes Foxface’s death with the poisonous berries he collects.
• during the hunger games knowing how to find food is the most important.
• peeta had no experience had no experience in finding his own food 
• katniss notice that the berries tha foxface ate were poisionous and they also had some 

Collins 331-374 the ending 

• the gamemakers have engineered giant wolves
• katniss climbes to the top of the cornucopia and fires arrows at the wolves
• one of the engineered wolves grab peeta but katniss saves him just in time
• katniss and peeta kill off the wolves
• the only two peope that are left is katniss and peeta
• when they are about to eat the poisionous berries they announce that is the two partners for the same district survive together they can win 
• peeta and katniss win the games
