When are quiet hours?
Definition
Sun-Thu: 10pm - 9am
Fri & Sat: Midnight - 9am
**24 hr quiet hours during finals week
**24/7 courtesy hours (aka, if someone asks you to turn the volume down, you are obligated to do so even if it isn't quiet hours)

Definition
No. Only approved overnight guests are allowed after quiet hours.

How far in advance does a student need to submit an overnight guest request form?
Definition
Two weeks.

Can a resident be found responsible for an alcohol violation if they come back to the hall drunk?
Definition
Yes. Residents are responsible for their actions while under the influence.

How many lock outs is a resident allowed?
Definition
One free. Additional lockouts cost $25, to be billed to their student account. After 3 lockouts, a resident has a conduct meeting with the RD and their locks may be recored at their expensive.

What items are not allowed due to noise?
Definition
Items that could be considered disruptive and thus banned: subwoofers, drum kits, fog horns, amplifiers, etc.

Where can residents not go in the building?
Definition
Rooms other than their own without the resident present, fire escapes (during a non-emergency), balconies, the roof, boiler room, or other areas deemed unsafe.

Are alcohol and drug paraphrenalia permitted as long as there is no drugs or alcohol present?
Definition
No. Alcohol bottles, hookahs, bongs, or other paraphrenalia are banned.

They must be at least 15 feet away from the building.

Can a resident bring in a couch, as long as it's new?
Definition
No. Large pieces of furniture are not permitted. Small pieces of furniture are permissable as long as they are new and are approved by the RD.

Only approved therapy or service animals are permitted.

Can I hang posters?
Definition
Yes. You may hang posters using small nails, tape, putty, etc. However, any damage that results will be charged to the resident.

Are cooking materials allowed?
Definition
Depends. Hot plates, grills, and open-coiled cooking devices are not allowed. Blenders, electric teakettles, etc. are permitted.

Can I paint my room?
Definition
No. In fact, large quantities of paint are not allowed in your room.

What contitutes a weapon?
Definition
Weapons may include, but are not limited to knives, paint guns, air guns, CO2 guns, martial arts weapons, archery equipment, mace, laser pointers, tear gas, BB guns, and sling shots, toy or “replica” guns or water guns.
