Definition
Delirium: Acute and reversible, sudden onset of short duration, can include confusion, hallucinations,is considered an emergency, can co-occur with dementia. Can be caused by dehydration or other medical emergencies.

Dementia: Gradual and progressive, not reversible, leads to loss of ADL skill, disease associated with: Alzheimer, Lewy Bodies, CVA.
Depression: Not considered a normal part of ageing but becoming more common. Causes can be loss if independence, loss of loved one, disease, chronic pain. Can co-occur with dementia.
