Term
when the airplane is parked with fuel tanks more than three quarters full (6,400 outbourd, 6,000 inboards) all crossfeed valves should be______
Definition
closed
Term
Does the fuel quantity totalizer reflect errors caused by a degraded or failed quantity indicator?
Definition
Yes
Term
When should fuel quantity indicators be read?
Definition
In straight and level flight
Term
When is crossfeed used?
Definition
when using fuel from aux or externals, when balancing tank levels and other special uses
Term
the auxillary and external tank transfer pumps have a ___________ pressure than the main tank boost pumps.
Definition
Higher
Term
Correct fuel management for takeoff is tank to engine. Crossfeed switches, transer switches and CROSS SHIP switch should be...
Definition
Closed and OFF
Term
Opening crossfeeds in a rapid climb can cause what?
Definition
engine flameout
Term
How many pumps to auxillary tanks have?
Definition
one
Term
On an overwater mission what is the priority for tanks to be used?
Definition
Aux then externals since the Aux's only have 1 pump.
Term
On a tac mission what would the tank order be?
Definition
Externals and then Aux tanks to preclude landing with fuel in the externals.
Term
What do you have to do before any cross-ship operation in flight?
Definition
Cross Ship manifold priming 2D7
Term
What are the steps for Cross Ship priming?
Definition
1: Place #1 transfer switch to FROM.
2: Place CROSS SHIP open
3: check Fuel pressure to read 28-40 PSI
4: place #4 main to TO
5: Check fuel press indicator for 20 PSI drop (indicating the fuel control valve has opened)
6: After 30 secs, place #4 main tank OFF and verify FUEL PRESS indicator goes back to 28-40 PSI.
Term
Can you do cross ship manifold priming when the tanks are full? Why or why not?
Definition
No, the fuel level control valves in the tanks are full
Term
can you do inter-tank transfer and crossfeeed operations at the same time?
Definition
NO.
Term
What is recommended fuel managament for takeoffs and landings?
Definition
Tank to Engine.
Term
If engine power fluctuations occur after opening an ENG CROSS FEED switch, what do you do?
Definition
Place all ENG CROSS FEED switches to closed and repeat your Cross-Ship manifold priming operations.
Term
When should you ignore WING HEAVY ACAWS messages? ACAWS messages arew not available with less than how much fuel?
Definition
6,000

6,000
Term
Each main tank has a (___to___PSI) AC powered boost pump to ensure fuel flow to all engiones.
Definition
15 - 24
Term
Each tank also has a (___to____PSI) AC powered fuel transfer pump.
Definition
28-40
Term
How many transfer pumps are in the externals?
Definition
2
Term
How many of the external transfer pumps are used for normal ops?
Definition
1. every time you turn the tank on the pumps alternate so they will last longer.
Term
How high can we refuel with the low speed drogue?
High speed drogue?
Definition
Low 10,000 feet
High 35,000 feet
Term
What is our usable fuel with all mains, aux and externals full?
Definition
61,364
Term
how much fuel do tanks 1 and 4 hold each?

2 & 3/
Definition
1&4 8,310 each, 2&3 7,657 each
Term
How long does the automatic SPR drain cycle take?

does it automatically shit off after it is complete?
Definition
5 mins

Yes
Term
