It seems that we are bombarded on a weekly basis by the news about global warming, and the great threat that it poses to mankind. We hear about water levels rising and natural disasters increasing. We are led to believe that CO2, and more specifically we humans are to blame for this. Today, I would like to persuade you to believe that this is simply not true.

There was a time when I believed this. I heard it on the news and in school. I watched Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" and felt that something needed to be done to save our planet. I once believed that the huge list of scientists that supported these claims wasn't misleading. It wasn't until my oldest brother showed me a movie titled "The Great Global Warming Swindle" that I began doing research of my own.

What I am going to talk about today affects us all. Today, I am going to attempt to shake the beliefs that my listening audience may have about global warming and the role mankind plays in our planets climate. I am going to start by focusing your attention to the people at the top of the climate change movement, then we'll move into the very nature of this so-called science, and we'll conclude with a look into how this movement can and will affect your lifestyle if it isn't stopped.

A. The International Panel on Climate Control’s role in deceiving the public

Disgraced leader Phil Jones states: There is a tendency in the IPCC reports to leave out any inconvenient findings, especially in the parts most likely to be read by lawmakers (deliberate strategy, not tendency)

Jones also states: “There was no significant warming from 1998-2008, neither the rate nor magnitude of recent warming is exceptional.”

These statements alone completely destroy all the claims about the validity of the science and claims of the IPCC

A. Michael Mann’s “Hockey Stick” Graph

When introduced 10 years ago, claimed that after 1,000 years of decline, temperatures have shot up exponentially

It was praised by climate change alarmists and both the IPCC and CRU

The graphs inconsistencies included completely ignoring the Medieval Warm Period, which was warmer than today’s climate

In 2003, Steven McIntyre exposed the data as “fundamentally flawed,” and has attempted to raise the alarm over the matter because much of the IPCC and CRU’s climate change case is built off of this graph

Many of Mann’s supporters have attempted to defend the “Hockey Stick” graph, calling themselves the “Hockey Team.” Coincidently, most of their names have been found on the leaked CRU emails, being directly linked to the content encouraging the manipulation of data

They are too simplistic

They must deal with more than 5 million variables, including many which are uncertain or unmeasured

Models tend to lack information regarding 2 major climate effects: water vapor and clouds

A chart of surface temperatures going back more than 240 years shows strong correlation between El Nino oscillations and the sun

D. The Aggressive Nature in Which They Attack Skeptics

Most alarming is the ruthless way in which these “researchers” have been determined to silence any expert questioning of the findings they have arrived at

This in itself ignores one of the most basic necessities for any scientific theory to be proven -- it needs to hold its own against skeptics

Often times, they get around this by not only refusing to disclose their basic data but by discrediting and freezing out any scientific journal which dares to publish their critics' work. They will stop at nothing to stifle scientific debate in this way, not least by ensuring that no dissenting research should find its way into the pages of IPCC reports.

First off, the warming is at least partly natural

Second, warming poses less of a threat than cooling would

People benefited from the Medieval Warm Period, with its equable climate conditions, compared to the subsequent deterioration during the Little Ice Age.

Life expectancy dropped 10 years once the temperature cooled

Despite the weak science, and the plausibility of an improved standard of living, governments around the world are fighting to combat CO2 emissions despite not knowing whether or not it’s the culprit

We were looking at not just carbon credit trading amongst businesses, but amongst citizens as well.

They were looking into having you pay a tax for being overweight, because overweight people supposedly emit more CO2.

If you drive a truck, whether you have to for work or you simply choose to, you would be paying a tax.

Prices of food and everyday necessities would skyrocket as companies tried to make up for the high cost of energy (as has happened in Europe)

I hope that I have persuaded my audience to at the very least second-guess what you hear about on the news and read about in scientific journals. The so-called-researchers break numerous scientific rules along the way in their effort to “inform” the public about the great danger we are faced with. They stand to lose more than you can imagine if it becomes common knowledge that they cannot account for our current weather pattern. They will lose in the form of government funding and they will no longer be in a position of suggesting corrective action. Everyone wants a clean planet, but are we really going to handcuff ourselves legislatively to a weak science that is shrouded in more doubt than the public knows to have one?
