Definition
An intentional, unlawful threat by word or act to do violence to the person or another, coupled with an apparent ability to do so, and doing some act which creates a well-founded fear in such other person that such violence is imminent.

Definition
An Assault: With a deadly weapon without intent to kill; or with intent to commit a felony.

Definition
Whenever any law enforcement officer of this state encournters any person under circumstances which reasonably indicate that such person has committed, is committing or is about to commite a violation of the criminal laws of this state or the criminal ordiances of any municipality or county, the officer may temporarily detain such person for the purpose of ascertaining the identity of the person temporarily detained and the circumstances surrounding the person's presence abroad which led the officer to believe that the person had committed, was committing or was about to commit a criminal offense.
