(Cefdinir)

Definition

Omnicef is an antibiotic that is used to treat many different types of infections in the body caused by bacteria  

 

route: oral suspension 

 

dosage: adults and adolescents ranges from 300 mg to 600 mg, taken either once or twice daily. Duration of treatment ranges from 5 to 10 days.

 

Side Effects include; diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, vaginal discharge or itching, headache, rash.

 

  • Do not take Omnicef if you are allergic to cefdinir, or to similar antibiotics, such as Ceftin, Cefzil, Keflex

Levaquin

(levofloxacin)

 

Definition

 

Levaquin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body.

 

 

Route : oral

dose: The usual dose of Levaquin is 250-750 mg given once daily for 5-60 days depending on the type of infection.

 

Range: with or without food 

 

You should not use Levaquin if you are allergic to levofloxacin or other fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, gemifloxacin, moxifloxacin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin

Take this medicine with water, at the same time each day. Drink extra fluids to keep your kidneys working properly while taking this medicine. Do not give this medicine to a child without medical advice. 

 

Side Effects include: tendon problems, nerve damage, mood or behavior changes, low blood sugar, can lead to coma.

(Nitrofurantoin)

Definition

Furadantin is an antibiotic aiding in the use of treating or preventing urinary track infections

dose: Adults and teenagers—50 to 100 milligrams.

 

route: this medication works best if taken with food. this may help lessen an upset stomach and help help the body absorb the medicine 

 

Take this medicine only as directed by your doctor. Do not take more of it, do not take it more often, and do not take it for a longer time than your doctor ordered.

PAXIL 

 

(Paroxetine)

Definition

Paroxetine is an antidepressant that belongs to a group of drugs, called sensitive serotonin reuptake inhibitors. 

Paroxetine effects of chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced and people with depression, anxiety and other disorders paroxetine is also used to treat depression, including major depressive disorder.

 

Route : oral suspension

 

Dose: paroxetine is available in as 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg tablets. Most people will start out with a dose of 10 or 20 mg. This might be gradually increased until you and your doctor agree that you have found a dosage that suits for you the recommended dose for paroxetine is 50 or 60 mg a day, depending on why you are taking it. 

 

You should not use paroxetine if you were also taking pimozide or thioridazine. Do not use paroxetine within 14 days before or 14 days after you have used an MAO inhibitor such as linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, selegiline, or tranylcypromine. Some young people have thought about suicide one first taking an antidepressant. Stay alert to changing and mood and symptoms report. Any new worsening symptoms to your doctor.

(Cephalexin)

Definition

 

Keflex is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by fighting bacteria in the body. Keflex is used to treat infection caused by bacteria, including upper respiratory infections, ear infection, skin infections, urinary track, infections, and bone infections. Catholics is used to treat infections in adults

 

Route: oral suspension

 

Dosage: For adults and children 15 years of age or older, 1000 to 4000 mg per day taken an individual doses. 

 

You should not use Keflex if you are allergic to cephalexin. Or similar antibiotic such as crafting, cefzil, omnicef. You should take this medication for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor symptoms may get better before the infection is completely treated. Skipping dosage may increase your risk of infection that is resistant to the medication.

 

Side effects include: 

 

Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, stomach pain, or vaginal itching or discharge.

(Norfloxacin)

Definition

(Backofen)

Definition

Definition

(AZITHROMYCIN) 

 

Definition

Zithromax is is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections it is a macro life-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. However This medication will not work on viral infections. 

 

route: oral 

 

Range: with or without food 

 

Dose: 

  • adults 500 to 2000 milligrams once a day taken as a single does depending on the type of infection this may be followed with doses of 252, 500 mg once a day for several days

 

For best effect take this antibiotic at evenly spaced times. 

Preferably at the same time every day. 

 

 

Side effects include: Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, loss of appetite, headaches, feeling dizzy, or tired, and changes in sense of taste.

MACRODANTIN

 

(nitrofurantoin)

Definition

macrotentin is an antibiotic used to treat urinary track infections caused by bacteria. 

 

Route: oral suspension

 

Range:  with food

 

Dose: 

    • adults 5200 mg four times a day Laura dosage level is

    • recommended for uncomplicated  urinary track infections. 



Side effects include: 

headache, stomach pain, vision problems, fever, chills, pale skin, weakness, joint pain, pain, redness, swelling of the lower jaw

 

You should not take Macrodantin if you have severe kidney disease, urinary problems or history of jaundice or liver problems caused by this medicine. You should also not use this medicine during late pregnancy. When taking Macrodantin avoid taking it an anti-acid that contains magnesium trisilicate, which could make it harder for your body to absorb Macrodantin.

VALIUM

 

(Diazepam)

Definition

Valium as a benzodiazepine. It is thought that it works by enhancing the activity of certain neurotransmitters in the brain. Valium is used to treat anxiety orders or alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Valium  is sometimes used with other medications to treat muscle spasms, stiffness, or seizures.

 

Route: oral, oral solution

 

Range:  take with liquid or semisolid foods

 

Dose:

 for treating anxiety: 

  • adults: 2 to 10 mg 2 to 4 times a day

  • Older adults: at first 2 to 2.5 mg 1 to 2 times a day. (Doctor may increase if needed.) 

For treating alcohol withdrawals: 

  • Adults: 10 mg three or four times a day for the first 24 hours than 5 mg 3 to 4 times per day as needed

  • Older adults: at first 2 to 2.5 mg, one or two times a day. (doctor will gradually increase your dose as needed.) 

 

Side effects include:

Drowsiness feeling tired, muscle weakness, or problems with balance or muscle movement. 

 

You should not take Valium if you are allergic to diazepam or have severe breathing problems, sleep apnea, or severe liver disease. Valium may cause suicidal thoughts your family or caregiver should also watch is for sudden changes in your behavior. Valium may also harm an unborn baby, do not use of pregnant, or may become pregnant. Never share this medication with another person or especially somebody with drug addiction history. May cause addiction, overdose, or death

REVIA  

(naltrexone)

Definition

Naltrexone is used to help narcotic dependence. You have stopped taking narcotics to stay drug-free. It is also used to help out alcoholic stay alcohol free. Naltrexone is not a narcotic. It works by blocking the effects of narcotics, especially the “high” feeling that makes you want to use narcotics. 

 

Route: oral

 

Range: with or without food

 

Dose: 

Narcotic addiction: 

  • Adults: at first 25 mg 1/2 tablet for the first dose than another 25 mg one hour later. After that, the dose is 350 mg per week. 

 

Alcoholism:

  • Adults: 50 mg once a day

 

Side effects include:

Chills, constipation, cough, runny or stuffy nose, sinus problem, sneezing or so throat, diarrhea, dizziness, faster, pounding heart beat increased thirst, irritability, loss of appetite and sexual problems in males. 


This medication may cause serious liver problems and or thoughts of suicide. Naltrexone blocks for useful effects of narcotics.

PHENERGAN

 

(promethazine)

Definition

Promethazine is used to relieve or prevent symptoms of hayfever, allergic congestive nurse, and other types of allergies or allergic reactions. It works by preventing the effects of a substance called histamine, which is produced by the body. Histamine can cause, itching, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. It can sometimes close up the bronchial tubes and make breathing difficult. It is also used to prevent and control motion sickness, help people with sleep, patterns or control, pain or anxiety  before or after surgeries, or other procedures. 



Route: oral, oral solution

 

Range: can be taken with food or liquid

 

Dose: 

  • adults and teenagers 12.5 mg before meals and a bedtime or 25 mg at bedtime as needed.

 

Side effects include:

Convulsions, irregular pulse, or fast heartbeat, high fever, high or low blood pressure increase sweating loss of bladder control, severe muscle stiffness, pale, skin, unusual, tiredness, or weakness



This medicine may affect blood sugar levels, it may also cause some people to become dizzy, lightheaded, or drowsy, or less alert than normal. This medicine will also add the effects of alcohol and make cause dryness of the mouth.

NEURONTIN

 

(Gabapentin)

Definition

 

Neurontin is an anti-epileptic drug, also called an anticonvulsant. It affects chemicals and nerves in the body that are involved in the cause of seizures and some types of pain. Neurontin is used in adults to treat neuropathic pain caused by herpes, virus or shingles. Neurontin is also used to treat seizures and adults and children. 



Route: oral, oral suspension



Range: may be taken with or without food

 

Dose: 

  • Adults: 300 to 600 mg orally three times a day

 

Side effects include: 

Weakness or shallow, breathing, blue, colored skin, lips fingers or toes, confusion, extreme drowsiness, or weakness, problems with balance or muscle movement, unusual, involuntary movements, or increase seizures.



This medication may harm unborn children. Avoid driving or hazardous activity until you know how this medication will affect you your reactions could be impaired, dizziness, or drowsiness can cause falls, accidents or severe injuries avoid taking an antacid within two hours of taking Neurontin as it can it harder for your body to absorb gabapentin avoid drinking alcohol while taking Neurontin.

(Gas)

Definition

 

Oxygen therapy also referred to as supplemental oxygen is the use of oxygen as medical treatment, supplemental oxygen, can also be referred to as oxygen enriched air at altitude acute indications for therapy. 

 

Route: inhaled 

 

Dose:  10 – 15 Liters Per Minute. Pre-fill the reservoir on the mask prior to placing the mask on the patient. 

 

Side effects include: dry, or bloody nose tiredness morning headaches. 

 

Some people with chronic conditions need a supplemental oxygen for life, while others need it temporarily until they recover from a cute (short term) illnesses.
