DIGOXIN - 

 

(DIGOX) 

Definition

Is used to treat heart failure also used to treat atrial fibrillation. A heart rhythm disorder of the atria 

 

Route: oral suspension 

 

Dose: dose is based on age, body, weight, and medical condition. It must be determined by doctor.

 

Side effects include: 

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, faster, slow, uneven, heart rate, a light head, feeling bloody or black, tarry, stools, confusion, weakness

 

Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated during exercise and hot weather and stay hydrated. Overdose can occur more easily if you are dehydrated.

(Catapres) 

Definition

Hours blood pressure by decreasing the levels of certain chemicals in your blood. It allows your blood vessels to relax, and your hard to be more slowly and easily is used to treat, hypertension or high blood pressure.



Route: oral 

 

Dose: 0.2 to 0.6 mg orally per day in divided doses 

 

Side effects include:

Chest pain, shortness of breath, slow, heart rate, drowsiness, dizziness, feeling tired, or irritable, dry mouth



Using clonidine with other drugs, that will make you drowsy can worsen effects. Ask your doctor before using opioid medication, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, medicine for anxiety or seizures.

(Amlodipine)

Definition

Lowers blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels, so the heart does not have to pump as hard 

 

Route: oral 

 

Dose: 5 to 10 mg orally once a day

 

Side effects include: 

Dizziness, drowsiness, swelling of your legs or ankles, irregular heartbeat, pounding, heartbeat, or fluttering in your chest, muscle stiffness, uncontrollable muscle movements, feeling tired, stomach pain, nausea 

 

Some drugs can affect your blood levels of other drugs you use, which may increase side effects or make the medicine less effective other drugs may interact with amlodipine like vitamins, or herbal products. Avoid getting up too fast from sitting or from laying positions, you may feel dizzy.

(Furosemide)

 

Definition

Lasix is a loop diuretic that prevent your body from absorbing too much salt. This allows assault to and said be passed in your urine. Lasix is used to treat fluid restriction in with congestive heart failure, liver disease, kidney disorders, Lasix can also be used to treat high blood pressure. 

 

Route: oral 

 

Dose: 20 to 80 mg 

 

Side effects include:

Bringing in your ears, hearing loss, muscle spasms, contractions, pale skin easy, bruising, unusual, bleeding. 

 

Take Lasix exactly as prescribed by your doctor do not use more than recommended dose high doses of Lasix may cause irreversible hearing loss.

Definition

Nitroglycerin is used in adults to treat or prevent attacks of chest pain. 

 

Route: oral, nasal (sublingual route)

 

Dose: 2.5 to 6.5 mg 3 to 4 times a day

 

Side effects include: 

headaches, rapid, heartbeats, new or worsening chest pain, headaches dizziness, numbness, tingling, burning pain

 

This medicine may cause headaches these headaches are assigned of the medicine is working. Make sure any doctor or dentist who treats you knows that you are using this medication. You may need to stop using this medication several days before medical tests.

(warfarin)

Definition

Dose: 2 to 5 mg once a day

 

Side effects include:

Headaches, swelling pain, bruising, bleeding gums, nosebleeds, bleeding from wounds, heavy menstrual periods

 

Avoid making any changes to your diet without first talking to doctors food that is high and vitamin K can make Coumadin less effective. Avoid drinking beverages  such as grape fruit, juice, cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, or drinking alcohol.

(Carvedilol)

Definition

Coreg is a beta blocker that affects the heart and circulation Coreg is also used to treat heart failure and hypertension. It’s also used after a heart attack that has caused your heart not to pump as well.

 

Route: Oral

 

Dose: 20 mg once a day for 7 to 14 days

 

Side effects include: 

Lightheaded, slow or uneven, heartbeats, cold feeling numbness, chest pain, dry cough, wheezing, chest tightness

 

Avoid driving a hazardous activity until you know how this medication affects you. Your reaction could be impaired avoid getting up too fast from sitting or laying positions you may feel dizzy.

(Hydrochlorothiazide)

Definition

Dial van is a diuretic receptor blocker. Dive In is a combined medicine used to treat high blood pressure.

 

Route: oral

 

Range: with or without food

 

Dose: 80 mg once daily

 

Side effects include:

I pain, vision problems, skin rash little to no urinating, jaundice, eye, bruising, unusual, bleeding, seizures, kidney problems, lightheaded, signs of electrolyte and balance

 

You should not use Diovan if you’re unable to urinate or if you have allergic reactions to sulfa drugs

(Enoxaparin)

Definition

Lovenox is an anticoagulant that helps prevent formation of blood clots. Lovenox also used to treat or prevent a type of blood clot called deep vein Thrombosis. 

 

Route: intravenous

 

Dose: Dose is based on body weight and must be determined by doctor. The usual dose is 1 mg/kg. Bodyweight injected under the skin every 12 hours 

 

Side effects include:

Bleeding gum, dizziness headaches increase menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding nose, bleeds, paralysis, prolonged, bleeding from cut red or black stools, red or dark brown urine and trouble breathing

 

This medicine lowers the number of some types of blood cells in your body because of this, you may bleed more easily stay away from rough sports, or other situations where you could be bruised, cut or injured Russian floss, your teeth gently, and be careful when using sharp objects, including razors, or fingernail clippers

Side effects include:

Blurred vision, chest pain or discomfort, confusion, dizziness, faintness, slow, regular heartbeat, or sweating.

 

You should not use Lopressor if you have serious heart condition, such as sick sinus syndrome or AV block, unless you have a pacemaker, slow, heartbeats that have caused you to faint or if your heart cannot pump blood properly you should also not use Lopressor if you were unable to urinate

HCTZ is a thiazide diuretic that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt which can cause fluid retention it is also used to treat people with congestive heart failure.

 

Route: oral

 

Dose: 25 mg orally once daily

 

Side effects may include: 

 

I pain, vision problems, jaundice, pale, skin, easy, bruising, unusual, bleeding, shortness of breath, breath, wheezing, coughing, foaming, mucus, chest pain

 

Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated during exercise and hot weather fall your doctors instructions about the type of amounts of liquids. You should drink in some cases, drinking too much liquid can be unsafe as not drinking enough liquid.

(Fluticasone)

Definition

Flovent is a corticosteroid that prevents the release of substances in the body that causes inflammation Flovent is also used to prevent asthma attacks. This medicine will not treat asthma attacks that I’ve already begun. Flovent is sometimes used together with steroid medicine taken by mouth.

 

Route: inhalation

 

Dose: 250 to 500 mcg daily

 

Side effects include: weakness, tired, feeling nausea, vomiting, wheezing, choking, breathing problems, blurred vision, tunnel, vision, eye pain

 

Long-term use or high doses of Flovent may increase the risk of having side effects such as serious, allergic reaction, hormonal disorder no sores or yeast infections in your throat or nose, high risk of infections, or cardiac or glaucoma, weak bones, osteoporosis, and delayed growth and children

(Ipratropium inhalation) 

Definition

Dry mouth, bitter, taste, headache, dizziness, tiredness, cold symptoms, nausea, upset, stomach, constipation, back pain, fevers, chills, bodyaches, flu symptoms

Definition

Albuterol is a bronchodilator that relaxes muscles in the airways in freeze airflow to the lungs albuterol is used to treat or prevent bronchospasm  or narrowing of the airways in the lungs and people with asthma or certain types of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

 

Route: inhalation

 

Dose: 2.5 mg in nebulizer 3 to 4 times a day

 

Side effects include:

Chest pain, upset, stomach vomiting, painful urination, dizziness, feeling shaky or nervous headache, back pain, body ache, cough, sore throat, sinus pain, or stuffy nose

 

This medicine can be in a nebulizer and an inhaler and used 15 to 30 minutes prior to exercise or any physical activity.

(Budesonide)

Definition

 

Symbicort contains a combination of budesonide and formoterol That reduces inflammation in the body. Symbicort is used to control and prevent the symptoms of asthma and adults and children. 

 

Route: inhalation

 

Dose: two puffs twice a day 12 hours apart. The recommended maximum dose is two puffs of 160 mcg of budesonide and 4.5 mcg of formoteral 

 

Side effects include:

 

Worsen, breathing problems, sores, or white patches in mouth pain when swallowing, Trevor is nervous in his chest pain, fast pounding heartbeats, cough with mucus, feeling short of breath, wheezing, choking, or breathing problems after using medication

 

It’s important to note that after properly, inhaling this medication, you should rinse your mouth out after the recommended dosage without swallowing.

(albuterol inhalation)

Definition

 

ProAir HFA is a bronchodilator that is used to treat or prevent bronchospasm in people with reversible obstructive airway disease. It’s is also used to prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm.

 

Route: inhalation

 

Dose:180 mcg inhaled 15-30 min before exercise

 

Side effects include:

Chest pain, upset, stomach, vomiting, painful urination, dizziness, feeling shaky or nervous headache, back pain, body aches, cough, sore throat, sinus pain, runny nose, stuffy, nose

 

Tell your doctor, if you’re pregnant or plan to become pregnant, it’s not known whether a butyryl will harm an unborn baby however having uncontrolled asthma during pregnancy, may increase the risk of premature birth, low birth, weight, or eclampsia. The benefit of preventing bronchospasms may outweigh any risks to the baby.

(Montelukast)

Definition

Singulair is a leukotriene inhibitor. Leukotrienes are chemicals your body releases when you breathe in an allergen. These chemicals cause swelling in your lungs and tightening of the muscles around your airways, which can result in asthma symptoms.

 

Route: oral 

 

Dose: 10 mg once daily 

 

Side effects may include:

Agitation, aggression, anxiety, depression, confusion, suicidal thoughts or tendencies, stuttering, tremors, uncontrolled muscle movements, hallucination, sleep problems

 

Singulair is also used to treat symptoms of year-round (perennial) allergies in adults and children who are at least 6 months old. It is also used to treat symptoms of seasonal allergies in adults and children who are at least 2 years old.Singulair is used for allergies, only after other treatments have failed.

(salmeterol)

Definition

Advair contains a combination of fluticasone and salmeterol. Fluticasone is a steroid that prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. Salmeterol is a bronchodilator. It works by relaxing muscles in the airways to improve breathing. Advair inhalation is a combination medicine used to prevent asthma attacks. It is also used to prevent flare-ups or worsening of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

 

Route: inhalation

 

Dose: 50 to 100 mcg once a day

 

Side effects may include: 

Wheezing, choking, fever, chills, cough, mucus, chest pain, tremors nervousness, signs of thrush, blurred vision, tunnel, vision, eye pain 

 

Avoid being near people who are sick or have infections. Call your doctor for preventive treatment if you are exposed to chickenpox or measles. These conditions can be serious or even fatal in people who are using a steroid such as fluticasone.
