FITT means:

Definition
  1. Frequency - the number of times per week that one exercises  (3-5 days a week).
  2. Intensity - amount of physiological stress or  overload placed on the body during exercise (Aerobic Zone: 70 - 80%).
  3. Time/duration- amount of time invested in performing the workout (20-60 min.).
  4. Type- either aerobic or anaerobic exercise.

  1. Overload - in order to improve physical fitness, the body or specific muscles must be stressed against a heavier work load than normal.
  2. Specificity - exercise training is specific to those muscles involved in the activity.
  3. Individual differences.
  4. Reversibility - what you don't use, you lose.
