exeplifies the power of a benevolent ruler. One the first examples of a diorite statue, the king claspsp his hamds peasfully, he stands as a servent to his god, Ningishzida. This is a votive statue.

Ningishzida leads Gudeah by the hand to the throne where Enkei is seated, Behind Gudea stands Lama, who stands with her hansa raised. Note hos gudea in this depition of himself is smaller, more petit, and humble in comparison to the gods.

Depicts the King Ur-namu recieving the rod and ring from his god, Ningirsu. The importance of theis stele eis that Ur-Nammu uses it to convey his divine right to the people, justifying his seven laws in his code.

The Standard of Ur

Found in the Royal Cymatary of Ur

 

The standard depicts three scenes, war, aftermath and peace, thought to be read from bottom to top. The leader is centered set at the top of the standard, and is also drawn larger than his slaves and subjects. The leader was a large and central figure in wartime.

Ur-Nammu was the first king of the Third Dynasty of Ur (Ur III period). He erected the above stela at Ur in the precinct of Nanna (or Sin), and it originally stood 5 ft. wide by 10 ft. high. As in the art of Gudea of Lagash, the stela is pious rather than victorious. In the upper of 2 registers
