Definition
It is a systematic process of collecting information and identifying specific behaviors, relationships and patterning that leads to classification of behavior based upon function and context, not on how the behavior looks.

  • Repeated attempts to change undesired behavior have not been successful
  • The IEP team is considering a change in placement for behavioral reasons.

  • A specific response to a set of enviromental or internal conditions, based on a set of automatic and/or learned responses.
  • A pattern of responses to certain types of enviromental conditions that develop over time.
