Classification of caries
Definition

Interproximal-assumes trianglar configuration

  •  class I incipient:extends less than half way through enamel
  • class II moderate: more than half way through enamel but not into dentin
  • classIII advanced: through enamel and into dentin but less than half way to the pulp
  • class IV severe: through dentin, enamel, and more than half way to pulp

occlusal caries:

  • incipient occ caries cannot be seen on x-rays
  • moderate occ caries difficult radiolucent line that extendes into enamel
  • severe occ caries easily seen radiolucency

Buccal and Lingual surface caries

  • small circular radiolucent

Definition
cannot be seen on x-ray
Term
