I.        If you were in a car accident and it turns out that you have been paralyzed from the neck down or you suffer from an incurable painful disease and you have to depend on someone else for the rest of your life. Would you want the type of life?

II.     Ladies and gentlemen my purpose today is to persuade you that euthanasia should be legalized in the United States.

III.   If you’re telling yourself how that would be an awful thing to do but just imagine yourself in such a situation.

IV.  To be able to prepare for the speech I came across 3 sources which I found on the net.

V.     Today I hope to convince you that euthanasia should be legalized for two reasons: Number one is because all the tax money which could be saved and secondly to stop the suffering that ill people go though.

(Let’s start by looking at how the legalization of euthanasia would contribute to save tax money)

I.                    Medical cost in the United States is very high. To keep someone ill alive takes around the clock care from hospital nurses and this could go on for years which turn out to be really expensive in the long run.

A.     Most of the time Medicare doesn’t fully cover the expenses therefore the family would have to pay for the hospital expenses.

B.     The family would have to spend thousands of dollars to keep their family member alive with little chances of getting better.

1.      According to Wesley J. Smith the drugs required for an assisted suicide cost about $40 dollars and it takes about 40,000 to treat a patient properly if they don’t want the choice of assisted suicide.

2.      If Medicare does cover it, all that money which is spent on someone with little chances of getting better could go to someone who needs it more.

(Now that I’ve shown you how a lot of money could be saved if euthanasia is legalize let’s move on how the legalization of euthanasia can relive ill people who are suffering from terrible diseases).

II.                 If someone close to you is suffering from a painful and incurable disease it affects that certain persona and family members.

A.     It causes great stress to see someone who you love and is very close to you in great pain without been able to help or even someone who is in a vegetable state because of an accident.

B.     A great example could be Terri Schiavo who spent 15 years in a vegetative state. She was brain dead and there was a great dispute between the husband and the family.

C.     The husband wanted to remove the feeding tube but her family wanted otherwise.

1.      Situations like in this case the family and loved ones suffer great emotional stress.

2.      There was a huge Legal dispute which when out for 15 years.

3.      15 years later Terri died after her feeding tube was removed.

(You have heard why euthanasia should be legalizing in the United States. Now let’s look at a solution.

I.        The best solution is to legalize euthanasia in important hospitals throughout the United States

A.      At least five doctors should approve the procedure.

B.      At least two doctors should be there to inspect procedure.

(Let’s move on to the visualization step)

I.        The result of euthanasia been legalize would be the following.

A.      If euthanasia is legalized this would be the results.

1.      The government would save a massive amount of money.

2.      All the money which the government saved would go to treating other ill patients with a better survival chance.

B.     If Euthanasia is not legalize.

1.      More money spent from on people with slight chances of getting better.

2.      The suffering of those with painful incurable diseases.

3.      Emotional stress to those who have loved ones is such situation.

I.        We must fight for the legalization of euthanasia.

A.     Our voices need to be heard.

B.      Tell your friends and loved ones we need to stand up for what we believe in.

II.     Remember people should be free to pursue their happiness even if what makes them happy is not to be alive any more.
