-Statutes of colonial era House of Assembly: collection of residents not citizens of NG, mostly Australian, purpose was to pass laws within NG boundaries.
-Statutes of post 1975 National Parliament: had to be a citizen, 109 seats, 19 represented different areas of NG.
Post - independence introductions
-constitution: over 400 pages, restricts ability of parliamentarians to act in favor of their "culture"
-recognition of "custom" as underlying law": custom can be used a defense.
