1. Direct Characterization - when the author makes a direct statement about the character's personality

2. Indirect Characterization - when he writer reveals a character's personality through one of the following ways
a. through a character's words or thoughts
b. through a character's actios
c. through what others say or think about a character

1. FIRST PERSON - stories told by one of the char of the story, referred to as "I". Reader sees everything thru character's eyes
2. LIMITED THIRD PERSON - narrator reveals the thoughts of one character and refers to as "he" or "she"
3. OMNISCIENT THIRD PERSON - narrator reveals thoughts of several characters and refers to each of char as "he" or "she" and narrator usually stands outside of story - ALL KNOWING
