1. Superficial (first degree) - involve only top layer of skin, the epidermis.

 2. Partial-thickness ( second-degree) - involve the epidermis and some parts of the dermis

3. Full-thickness (third-degree) - extend through all skin layers and may involve subcutaneous layer, muscle, bone anor internal organs.
