- Tmt of skin and skin structure infections, bone and joint infections, uti's, lower resp infections, gonorrhea

- bactericidal action against susceptible bacteria

- excreted in urine

- use cautiosly in severe hepatic and renal impairment, hx of gi disease, pregnancy

Definition

- PO, IV

- Tmt of bacterial infections - UTI, Gonnorhea, resp tract infections, skin and skin structure, bone and joint, typhoid fever

- active against gram- positive pathogens

- metabolized by liver and kidneys

- crosses placenta

- contraindicated - hypersensitivity, no ob or pedi unless absolutely nesc.

- drug/drug theophylline may cause death

- on empty stomach 1 hr before or 2 hrs after
