What amount of fluid in ml will be injected into the patient?
Definition
Detemine what fraction 300mg is of 600mg ie 300 divided by 600 =1/2. Therefore the amount of fluid required is half of 1.5ml.
= 0.75ml
Term
A drug is available in liquid form. The concentration is 2mg per ml. How many mls will be required if the prescription is for 10mg?
Definition
2mg = 1ml
10mg = 5ml
Term
Diamorphone 10mg for injection is available in powder form ready for reconstitution. The patient has been prescribed 2.5mg via intramuscular injection. The Diamorphine is to be reconstituted with 1ml sterile water for injection. What amount of fluid in ml will be drawn into the syringe?
Definition
Determine what fraction 2.5mg is of 10mg ie 2.5 divided by 10 = 0.25. Therefore the amount required is a quarter of 1 ml (0.25 divided by 1).
= 0.25ml
Term
