onset: 3 days - less than 1 month from traumatic event 

at least 9 symptoms from these clusters: 

D: dissociation

I: intrusion

A: arousal

N: negative emotion

A: avoidance 

Children: differ in intrusion symptoms only

Exclusion criteria : TBI, SUD, brief psychotic d/o

1 day - less than 1 month

average onset in mid-30s

lasts at least 3 months and either chronic or intermittent for several years 

persist for at least 1 year

childhood onset- less than 10 y.o.

adolescent onset- after 10 y.o.

acute: less than 6 months

persistent: 6+ months 

onset: any age 

1 year - children & adolescents

2 years- adults 

includes symptoms of but never meet criteria for full episode of hypomania or depression 

for at least 6 months

onset: mostly 50 + years

hours, days, sometimes weeks

high risk: children & elderly
