how does beowulf reflact the anglo saxon time period?

Beowulf is an archtype(very old imaginative pattern that appears in literature of different cultures and time periods)known as an epic hero who is meant to represent the traditions and values of the societies who create them. Three ways he represents the anglo saxon society and their values are 1) he is a gentleman . . . he requests to kill grendal. 2) he is a fair person he wishes to fight grendal without any weapons. 3)He is very humble he staid behind brecca suring their smimming competition and was willing to loose the smimming match to make sure breeca does not drown.
