eg., proper factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6.

a number that divides a given number leaving a zero remainder

eg, 5  is a divisor of 20 since 20 / 5 = 4 has a remainderr of 0.  a divisor of a given number is also known as a factor of that number.

a factor that two or more numbers share

 

eg, 7 is a common factor of 14 and 35 because 7 is a factor of 14 (14 = 2 x 7) and a factor of 35 (35 = 5 x 7)
