Until they reach pre adolesence, students do not think in abstract forms

- young children are concrete thinkers, driven by senses, easier to act out, to be real to them

science Laboratory learning- concept that learning is more effective & comes easier if students can use their hands, eyes, ears, noses, etc.

Lessons-

Introduction:

2.what are they going to study, expected to learn

3.Activate background knowledge:attach new knowledge to existing helps retain info

Concluding a Lesson-

-every lesson should be assessed but Not every thing needs to be graded

-helps students know where the leeson will go next

- know how the info is valueable & useful

Inductive & Deductive Lessons-

Deductive-lessons that move from  the general to the specific; big picture to small

Inductive- move from specific to general; small pieces to bigger, useful in 2nd Language,

-Important to ask students WHAT they already know!

Student Practice-interactive process of doing something & the point  at which learning occurs

Repetition Practice-

form of discussing, rereading, taking info to higher level

-helpful in memorization , adding, multiplication, subtration skills, vocab,, revist concepts learned before

Practice Time- assign homework which reinforces learned concepts, skills

Teacher observations- the teacher is able to  informally assess students needs during instruction.

On task Behavior- helps  direct teaching methods, need to modify

Instructional Strategies- change based on students questions or comments ,

Mentally taxing-  for young children it can be difficult to focus if to much info is given at one time

Wikis- tool teachers use,  colaborative definitions, posted info to computers, & Web, students can post about info
