What does it mean to have an adult identity?
Definition
Having an adult identity means that inside a young adult is a building perception of himself/herself as the adult he/she intends to be.  On the outside, though, he/she is really creating the behavioral patterns that would show such an identity to other people.

Definition
Independence is the term relating to young adults as they move out of their parents' house to get out into the real world on their own.  Travel, new relationships, military service, and marriage are some of the most common reasons for college students to leave the nest.

Definition
Responsibility is the term relating to young adults as they become responsible for themselves, for other individuals, and for institutions.  Also, those levels need to be assumed in one's movement through the academic curriculum and for one's own health and other people's health.

Definition
Social skills are the type of communication that everyone needs to have.  That way, they can function in different social settings, with different people, and different roles.  On the other hand, accomplishment of this task requires young adults to improve their skills in communication, listening, and conflict management.

What is an intimate relationship?
Definition
An intimate relationship relates to intimacy in a more mature perspective whose main focus is a deep and caring relationship.  Young adults who are attending college can experience a relationship that's more mature than when they were adolescents.  Dating and mentoring relationships, and close and trusting friendships are the main areas from which intimacy sprouts.  From a developmental view, the only matter is that we have quality relationships involving a person with whom we share our most deeply held thoughts, feelings, and aspirations as we try to take a distinctive approach to life.

What is employment?
Definition
Employment is the term relating to a job or a career that everyone must have to make money.  Most of the time, young adults have to go to college to pursue a good career.  In many respects, most forms of employment meet needs beyond those that are connected merely with cash.  Employment in general provides opportunities to develop new skills that expand upon those being taught in academic majors.  It also provides opportunities to take on new forms of responsibility beyond those that can be found on a college campus.  There fore, going to college to get a degree is highly recommended.

What are parenting skills?
Definition
Parenting skills relates to the way parents raise their children.  Although Americans are having fewer children than they have in the past, parenting-related decisions and skills are vital to the years of young adulthood.  Decisions that regard parenting (both biological and adoptive) involve important questions about age for the onset of parenting; the number of children; and intervals between subsequent children.  It also involves the manner in which parenting will be undertaken, and the role it'll play relative to the overall aspirations of the adults who get involved.

What is generativity?
Definition
It's based on a process in which the emotional maturaton needs of middle-aged people interact with society's need to support its most vulnerable members, including children and senior citizens.  The process of generativity is also based on familiar types of activities.

What does it mean to reassess earlier goals?
Definition
When middle-aged people need to start coming to terms with the finality of their eventual death, they should take time to think about goals from adulthood that they formulated 25 or more years earlier.  By carefully reviewing their ambitions from young adulthood, they can do a very clear study of their short- and long-term goals.  Strengths and weaknesses that weren't recognized in earlier years can be seen and understood better, and the inexperience of youth is replaced by insights gained through experience.

What does it mean to accept changes of aging?
Definition
The general decline that's associated with older adulthood is serious between an old person's 70s and 90s.  Physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually, and occupationally, older adults have to accept this decline.  A developmental task that can be accomplished by an older adult is to accept the nature and extent of such changes.

Definition
It's the term relating to how each segment of the life cycle should be approached with the fullest level of involvement possible.  Therefore, an older adult should attempt to maintain as much functionality in each segment as possible, especially the ones that support independence.  Rehabilitation is meant for older adults who would want to bring back some function to a previously higher level, and remeditation can be used in combination with it.

It's a type of health that has some of the most important aspects, including the abilities to process and act on information, clarify values and beliefs, and exercise decision-making capacity.  Also, the ability to analyze, synthesize, hypothesize, and then act on new information broadens the quality of life in multiple ways.
